“Dang it, I thought it was earlier than that. Shucks, we got to get a move on. Hold tight, Laura.” The werewolf said sternly.
“Great timing, I need the wind blown look.”
“This is no time to play around Laura, not the slightest amount of time.”
I hug my book to my chest; just knowing that it’s close to me makes me feel better.
“Roth, where are we headed anyways?”
“You will know it when we arrive. It’s part of the Fictionals, one of our mainstays. Just know that when we do pass through the time shift, time here will remain the same as we left. We can’t stay in the time shift for long, for there are worse things happening here we cannot explain.”
“Why does time stop here when we leave? I mean doesn’t all time correlate with one another, because of the sun?”
“Well, not every world has a sun, but yes, I do believe time should shift, but I guess the universe just hates time.”
“I don’t think it’s the appropriate time to be making jokes, Roth. Are we almost there?”
“We are turning the corner now. Man, I really hope that Glenda has the Warp open. If she doesn’t, we are doomed.”
“You know that your words just light up my day?” I said with as much sarcasm that I could muster.
“Laura, I don’t think it’s the appropriate time to be making jokes,” Roth said mimicking my voice, but his accent was too strong and he sounded like a kitten.
“Fine, fine, but can we please get there? I’m really excited for this even though I’m doomed to die, one way or another. That’s how most of the stories end with the Ficitonals.”
“Death is the only way our dreams can be truly fulfilled.”
“Well, Death can go screw itself. Excuse my language, Roth, I’m just a little confused at what is really happening, so don’t get all “tough wolf” on me.”
“Trust me, I understand completely. I know all of this tis really hard to comprehend, but it will make sense soon enough. We’re here.” Roth stopped abruptly, making me dizzy.
When I regained my in-line sight, I only saw a black wall in one of the cities’ alleyways. “Roth, what are we looking at?” I say imperviously.
“Glenda should have had it up already, why isn’t it up?” The lycanthrope says to himself. “We will be looking at a shimmering little spot right in front of us. It should be here momentarily.”
“Who’s Glenda anyways? I mean do you two have something going on? Is she your special little girl wolf?” I said lovingly.
“No.” Roth says forcefully. “Glenda is the head of the WOP, the Warp Organization Patrol. The name is pretty self explanatory, I believe.”
While Roth was talking about Glenda, I was staring down the alley, searching for any sign of life, and I saw none. I felt Roth tremble underneath my body. I looked over at the wall, and it was glowing a light blue and the entire wall shimmered. I was in awe at the Warp.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Roth asks.
“Stunning, yet pleasing to the eyes.” I respond casually.
“We better get a move on. You ready little one?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.”
Roth backed up and gave a running start, and we were gone.
The sensation of passing through the Warp was ecstatic. It was as if I were stuck in a meat locker for five minutes, even though we passed through in a matter of moments. Roth’s body was shaking all over when we arrived on the other side of the Warp.
After I get the feeling of passing through my system, I look up to see paradise. Lush, green fields with an abundance of willow, oak, and wisteria all around. There was not a sight that did not have any flowers or any nature to it, even the giant floating castle in the sky was covered in ivy and flowers. Wait, did I just say floating castle!
“Roth! How in the world is that castle floating? I mean, doesn’t that defy every law of gravity, ever! Holy Hera, this is too much to take in. Set me down Roth, please.”
Roth set me down, and when he stood up he went back into human form. He had short brown hair and sharp gray eyes. He was gorgeous.
“My goodness, you look nice.”
“Ha ha, thanks Laura, same back here to you. You might not know it but our sight when in wolf form; everything is in black and white, and a little gray. I never knew you had blonde hair and I definitely didn’t know that you had orange/blue eyes. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone with the color eyes you have. It’s purely amazing.
“And to answer your question earlier, the castle is floating due to the weather here. The area underneath the castle has so much pressure, the castle stays up in the air, and if you were to go under it, you would be crushed paper thin.”
“Okay. . . well how do we get up there? Or are we even going there?”
“The king and his mistress have ordered to see us, and we get there by flying.”
